LMS PRINCESS CORONATION TENDER

BRIEF HISTORICAL DETAILS

The 38 members of the 'Princess Coronation' class, to give the 'Duchesses' their correct name, were all coupled to 10 ton, 4000 gallon tenders fitted with steam coal pushers. The subjects of this kit are the two types of all welded tenders fitted to the first 33 locomotives. The two types were classified as follows:
Type 'A' - Streamlined style - Locomotives 6220-9 and 6235-52.
- Twin water fillers - Four vents inside coal space
- No rear steps
- Rear ladder
- Side sheets at rear extend beyond rear plate and have beading down their rear edge
- Side sheets at front have high cut-out.
Type 'B' - Non-streamlined style - Locomotives 6230-4.
- Single water filler
- Front vents inside coal space
- Tall rear vents on tank top
- Rear steps with handrails on side sheet above
- Six steps on rear plate
- Side sheets at rear flush with rear plate and are not beaded down rear edge - Side sheets at front have lower cut-out.
The kit produces the Type 'A' tenders in the form they took when the streamlined locomotives were de-streamlined between 4/1946 and 5/1949.
